My Gear.

Cellphone Holder

I use this cellphone holder and ring light when filming. It is so much easier to use this than to try to prop up my phone on a coffee mug!

This one clips onto a desk or chair. There are also ones that stand on your desk or on the ground.

Lapel Microphone

When I am on camera, I use this microphone. It is extremely inexpensive so perfect for people just starting out. It does have a long wire on it.

Canon M50/iPhone 11

Ok, I do NOT own either of these. I currently film on my iPhone 6 (this proves you do NOT need fancy equipment to be a YouTuber!)

BUT, if I was upgrading my gear I would choose either the Canon M50 or the iPhone 11. Both are amazing for videos.

Resources to start a YouTube channel!

I’ve put together a list of the equipment & software I use for my YouTube channel as I’ve been getting SO MANY questions lately (I love it - keep the questions coming!) I hope I inspire you to get on YouTube and turn that knowledge of yours into something amazing to educate the world!

If you want to learn about YouTube from Brandy, CLICK HERE!

AND since my gear is pretty bare-bones, I’ve also included my wish list in case you want to get yourself (or me!) something nice ; )

Please note that the links on this page contain affiliate links. This means that if you purchase something from my link, I receive a small commission at no additional cost to you.

Software (YouTube/videos)

If you have a YouTube channel, make your life easier and get TubeBuddy already! You know I love things that are simple and practical - and this is that!

It is a browser extension that helps you manage your YouTube channel. I specifically use it for key word research, picking tags for my videos, and making sure everything is optimized for my videos.

Keywords Everywhere

If you have ever wondered “I wonder how many people actually search for ____ in a month” . . . well my friend, wonder no longer!

Before sitting down to do some research, turn on Keywords Everywhere in your browser and it will tell you how many times “how to make guacamole” is searched (74,000/month).

Why on earth is this useful?! Well we want to make sure people are actually looking for the thing you are working hard to create.

Camtasia (video editing)

I have a PC and I have been using Camtasia for video editing since day 1 (I know a lot of Mac users use iMovie for editing).

While I’m by no stretch of the imagination a good video editor, I manage to get the job done and Camtasia is pretty darn easy to use.
